Se Construye Cooperación entre Honduras y la Soad

On February 27, 2025, the National Platform of Black Populations of Honduras (PLANAPONH) formally presented a proposal for an agreement between Honduras and the State of the African Diaspora (SOAD), anticipating a potential Liberal administration for the 2026–2030 term.
The State of the African Diaspora (SOAD) seeks to bolster the development of Honduras and its people through a series of programs and projects—including innovative pilot initiatives—that operate at both national and community levels, based on the premise that Africa is strengthened through the Diaspora, and vice versa.
Honduras would serve as the SOAD’s gateway to the diaspora within Central America, providing the country with a significant economic boost while, above all, offering genuine recognition of the ancestral identity of the population of African descent.
The SOAD is led by Prime Minister Louis-George Tin (of French origin), while PLANAPONH is led by the young Honduran Genova Alanis Bernardez Banegas.

On August 26, 2025, the State of the African Diaspora (SOAD) and the National Platform of Black People of Honduras (PLANAPONH), through their official representatives, Prime Minister Dr. Louis-George Tin and Engineer Genova Alanis Bernardez, signed an important Memorandum of Understanding that consolidates the rapprochement between the Diaspora and Africa and vice versa.
The important agreement includes collaboration on diplomatic matters, sustainable development, political empowerment, combating discrimination, and Pan-African activities.
PLANAPONH seeks to strengthen its capabilities to host what will be the SOAD diplomatic mission accredited in the country, and with this action, Honduras positions itself as a main hub of the Diaspora in Central America.
The signing of the Memorandum strengthens the historical, cultural, and political ties between Africa and the diaspora in the Americas, and also paves the way for concrete, high-impact projects that will benefit the Afro-indigenous population and the rest of Honduran society.
"This agreement encompasses a shared mission: to strengthen Africa through the diaspora and the diaspora through Africa. Honduras, with its Afro-Honduran population, becomes a vital partner in the process," stated PM Louis-George.
For his part, Genova Bernardez stated: "This agreement is a historic event that marks a turning point in the development of the country."
